News - 25th November 2013

We've got a new page for photographs of our Stars and Writers of the Week and also some Lunchtime Awards photographs. It's under construction at the moment but will soon be here.

Check out Class 5's page for some recently added photos.

Anti-Bullying Week at Wainstalls School

During Anti-Bullying week all the children at Wainstalls School have been learning about:

  • What is bullying?
  • How can we deal with bullying?

Bullying happens in the ‘virtual’ world as well as the ‘real’ world and so every pupil has worked with Mr Riddlesden, our ICT teacher, to learn about the effects of cyber bullying.

The children shared their work in a whole school assembly:

Class 5

They shared a short Disney Pixar film called ‘The Birds’, to discuss what bullying looks like, why people bully and what can be done.

Class 4

They shared a Power Point they had designed about different types of bullying – cyber, physical, emotional and verbal. They also shared how to keep safe on the internet.

Class 3

They shared Anti-Bullying posters to make people aware of different kinds of bullying and how bullying can be online as well as the ‘real’ world.

Class 2

They shared why you shouldn’t post nasty pictures on the internet and why you should never give your personal details away. They also told us about nasty words and how they make people feel with their girl called Wanda.

Class 1

They have been talking in circle time about ‘kind hands’ – treating each other kindly. They also have learnt how to be a good friend.

Thank you to all of the staff and children for their hard work during Anti-Bullying week.

The final message for everyone was:

DON’T KEEP IT INSIDE, TELL SOMEONE!

Here are some pictures from Class 5’s trip to Bankfield Museum, where they met the pupils from Bailiffe Bridge School for the first time. Class 5 are linked all year with Class 5 from Bailiffe Bridge School. At Bankfield Museum the children drew portraits of each other, worked with a new friend to discover the Duke of Wellington Gallery and did circle time ‘getting to know you’ type activities.
